AES Families,

Now that we have successfully kicked off the school year, we want to take a proactive approach to ensuring Auburn Elementary remains a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for every student. We appreciate your partnership and believe that open communication between home and school is one of the best ways to support our children.

This week, Mrs. Lowe, our Assistant Principal, and I met with every grade level to ensure students received consistent expectations and messaging regarding behavior, routines, and procedures throughout our school. We are incredibly proud of how respectful, attentive, and engaged our students were during these assemblies.

As part of our schoolwide PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, students are already working hard to earn PBIS Rewards Points for demonstrating Respect, Ownership, Attitude, and Responsibility (ROAR).

We encourage you to ask your child each day:

  • How many PBIS Rewards Points did you earn today?
  • What did you do to earn them?
  • What is your goal for tomorrow?

Celebrating these positive choices at home reinforces the behaviors that help make Auburn Elementary a wonderful place to learn.

Additionally, as we continue building strong routines and expectations, please also take a few moments to talk with your child about the importance of using responsible words. Any statement that threatens the safety of others or our school community—whether made in person, in writing, or as a joke—will always be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and may result in disciplinary consequences and/or involvement of law enforcement, depending on the circumstances.

Please help us with teaching our awesome Tigers:

  • Words matter, and statements inappropriate for school can result in consequences.
  • Even comments made as a joke about school safety or violence will be taken seriously.
  • If they hear or see something concerning, they should tell a trusted adult immediately.
  • Kind, respectful words help create a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.

And finally - reminder that Wednesday Folders should have come home with your child yesterday. Please review the contents, sign any required forms, and return the folder by Friday. Included in this week's folder was important information regarding our Fall Title I Back-to-School Night, along with other school and classroom updates. Taking a few minutes each week to review your child's Wednesday Folder is a great way to stay informed and connected to everything happening at Auburn Elementary.

Thank you for partnering with us to help ensure we together create an environment where all of our students are able to thrive. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to an outstanding school year together.

With love,
Meridith Wages Peck, Principal
