AES Families,
What another great week at AES! Our students have completed the first of three NWEA MAP Growth administrations for the year. These assessments help us identify strengths, needs, and next steps for instruction. Now, the important work begins! Our priority is ensuring every student grows and increasing achievement across our school. Your partnership is an important part of making that happen!
Stay Connected - Your child should have brought home their Wednesday Folder yesterday and you should have received a grade-level newsletter through ParentSquare. Please check both regularly for important information and ways to support learning at home. Please check both regularly to stay informed about what your child is learning, upcoming events, and important reminders.
One simple way to stay connected to your child's learning is to ask each day: What did you learn today? How do you know you learned it? These questions reinforce what we are doing at school by helping students understand what they are learning, know what success looks like, and take ownership of their progress.
Read Every Night! - Please make 20–30 minutes of reading each evening part of your family's routine. Research consistently connects regular reading with stronger vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and overall literacy development. For younger students, this may mean reading together or listening to an adult read aloud. Older students can read independently and then talk with you about what they read. Those minutes add up, and consistent practice reading is one of the most valuable ways you can support learning at home!
Attendance Matters! - Every day counts!
When students miss school, they miss out—and we miss them! We have only 178 school days. Missing just 18 days means missing approximately 10% of the school year. When your child is healthy, please make being at school and arriving on time a priority.
If your child is absent, please remember to email AESattendance@barrow.k12.ga.us with the reason for the absence and any necessary documentation. Every day matters!
Spirit Wear Fridays! - Fridays are all about Auburn Pride! We want our students AND staff filling the building with orange, blue, and Auburn spirit wear every Friday. Let's make Fridays BIG at AES and fill our school with Auburn spirit!
Get Connected with PTO! - Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first PTO meeting last night! If you haven't already, consider joining PTO. Interested in serving as a Room Mom/Parent or volunteering? Reach out to Stacy Dupre.
Fall Title I & Back-to-School Night – Thursday, August 20 - Join us at 5:30 PM for our Fall Title I Meeting, followed by Back-to-School Night at 6:00 PM with your child's teacher. We hope to see you there!
Thank you for trusting us with your children and partnering with us.
With love,
Meridith Wages Peck, Principal
